I recently completed the Health and Data Analytics micro-credential at the Canadian College of Healthcare & Pharmaceutics, and I’m excited to share my thoughts and experiences with you! Whether you’re thinking about enrolling or just curious about what the program offers, I hope this post gives you some valuable insights.

What I Found Most Beneficial
One of the standout features of the program for me was the hands-on approach to learning data analytics. The instructors were not only knowledgeable but also provided clear, actionable guidance on using tool which in this was R Studio, with access to an online forum to learn more skills if interested. It was refreshing to move beyond just theory and dive into practical writing of code and data analysis. For instance, working on the capstone project, we analyzed patient datasets from NAMCS to identify trends and outcomes. This experience truly enhanced my understanding of data analytics in healthcare and equipped me with valuable skills such as data visualization, statistical analysis, and the use of R Studio.

Program Feedback
While I found the program to be fantastic overall, I believe there’s room for improvement in raising awareness within the Black community. There’s so much potential for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds to gain these essential skills, but many might not even know these programs exist.

I’d love to see the institution invest in targeted outreach and partnerships with organizations that focus on diversity in tech and healthcare. This could help ensure that more people who could benefit from the program get the chance to learn about it, ultimately enhancing its impact.

Other Thoughts
Beyond the technical skills, I really appreciated the supportive and collaborative atmosphere and the convenient class schedule to accommodate individuals like me who work full time too.

Overall
My experience with the Health and Data Analytics micro-credential was overwhelmingly positive. It equipped me with both the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to understand this field and thrive in it.

In summary, the Health and Data Analytics micro-credential at the Canadian College of Healthcare & Pharmaceutics is a well-rounded program that offers invaluable skills for anyone looking to enter or advance in the field of healthcare analytics. While there’s room for improvement in raising awareness, the overall program offers a fantastic learning experience. I highly recommend it!
