Clinical research forms the cornerstone of Canada’s healthcare industry. A multitude of entry-level positions are available to a broad spectrum of candidates. These positions are particularly suitable for internationally educated health professionals, post-secondary and undergraduate students, and graduates specializing in health and life sciences due to the transferable skills they possess. We have designed this workshop specifically to equip these individuals with the vital skills necessary for acing interviews and excelling from day one in these roles
This program is meticulously designed to equip you for a seamless transition into the dynamic Canadian research landscape. The curriculum combines classroom instruction and practical assignments, honing your skills to effectively aid researchers in critically examining research documentation. You will gain insights into clinician-researchers expectations in both academic and private settings, as perceived by their research and office assistants.
The Clinical Research Essentials (CRE) workshop is ideal for attendees with following background seeking entry-level research assistant positions:
- Undergraduate and graduate students in health and life sciences
- International Medical Graduates (IMGs)
- Nurses (RN, RPN) or Internationally Educated Nurses
- Allied health professionals interested in research career
If you are included in “who should take the course” then we would like to highlight how this program is unique and why you should take this course. There are are many credentials like ACRP and SoCRA are available to experienced research professionals. These credentials require you to have experience of 1 year as an employee in an academic research hospital or similar setting. The alternate is 1 to 2 year long graduate or post-secondary program. Our training initiates you and prepares you for interview and entry-level positions in clinical research. Securing a job with our training will help you gain more experience and be eligible for ACRP and SoCRA exams.

The program is delivered as two days online in-person or online. The total duration of the program is 14 hours covering following topics:
- Microsoft Office tools for research & reports (covers the topics of Microsoft office tools Word, Excel, and Power point)
- Research methods and ethics guidelines (TCPS2 and ICH-GCP)
- Understanding research protocols and standard operating procedures
- Drafting Research Ethics Board (REB/IRB) Application and Informed Consent Forms (ICF)
- Supporting Common CV and NIH Biosketch Updates
- Setting up data collection tools (Surveys and RedCap)
- Initiation in literature review and biobliography
