
About Intramuscular (I/M) Injections Program:
The Canadian College of Healthcare and Pharmaceutics is pleased to announce a six- hour program on administration of intramuscular injection. The program is designed for health professionals and front-line workers to understand the concepts of intramuscular injection and to safely administer them. The program is delivered by a certified professional. The concepts of patient safety are included as well.

Course Detail/Duration:
Duration: 6 hours (10am to 4pm, one day)
Format:
The program includes theory as well as practice on simulated arms. The program covers following topics:
- Medication concepts
- Intramuscular injection
- Administering injection
- Deltoid
- Dorsogluteal
- Ventrogluteal
- Vastus lateralis
- Injection techniques
- Parts of syringe and needle
- Patient safety
- infection control and needle disposal
Learning Objectives:
- Learn where to give an IM injection
- Able to confidently administer an intramuscular injection
- Demonstrate different techniques of giving an intramuscular injection
- Demonstrate correct technique for giving IM injection
- Identify equipment used for giving IM injection
- Demonstrate correct disposal of used needle
