Program Outline

The program covers the following topics:

Module 1: Standards of Practice and Ethics: Canadian Healthcare Settings (4.5 hours)

Module 2: Anatomy, Physiology of skin and soft tissue; Wound- healing physiology and factors affecting repair process (4.5 hours)

Module 3: Types of skin damage and differential diagnosis; skin and wound inspection and assessment (4.5 hours)

Module 4: Asepsis, Infection Control and Wound infection: Diagnosis and management (4.5 hours)

Module 5: Wound debridement and Principles of wound healing and topical management (2.5 hours)

Module 6: Biophysical and Biologic Agents (5.5 hours)

Module 7: Critical Cofactors in Wound Management (6 hours)

Module 8: Acute wounds and how best to manage them (6 hours)

Module 9: Special Patient Populations (2 hours)

Program Details

Duration: Hybrid program of 39 hours in total.

Instructor-led Zoom sessions on six weekdays – 4:30pm-9pm (27 hours)

In-person – two weekend days (12 hours) from 10 am to 4 pm

Credential: Certificate of attendance and certificate of completion

Funding: The program at the Canadian College of Healthcare and Pharmaceutics is eligible for tax credits under the Canada Skills Credit program. The College also works with financial institutions including Windmill Mircrolending to arrange support for student loans.
